Want a medal but don’t want to run a full 13 miles?
There’s a race for that!
Each team should register two people. The first leg will run about 7 miles. The hand-off will be at the spillway. The second team member will run the rest of the race, approximately 6 miles. (If you’re looking for the easy part, register for the second leg – it’s flat and entirely at the lake!)
You will both park at the shuttle stop, just like the rest of the runners, and enjoy the pre-race festivities. The first leg will begin the race with the half marathon runners. The second leg runner will hop the shuttle to the spillway with the other relay runners. Once at the spillway, we will have a place to hang out and cheer the others, including fruit, water and Gatorade. A volunteer will be connected through a radio about a quarter mile from the exchange point and will call out bib numbers as they pass, alerting the second runner to be ready! When your teammate reaches the relay exchange, the timing chip will be passed on and the second runner will finish the race. The first runner can help themselves to the amenities and then hop the shuttle back to Norbuck to cheer their teammate into the finish!
Will we each get a medal and a shirt?
Absolutely! You will pick up your race shirt at the packet pickup and you will both receive medals once you finish your leg of the race.
Is this relay competitive?
Sure is! We will have awards for the relay runners and, rest assured, the competition could be fierce!
Can I run both legs of the race?
Well, it’s kind of odd, but if you would like to run the half but also allow one half to be split with a friend, thereby resulting in a little extra bling and a second t-shirt, you just have to register for both races.
Help! I have other questions!
